The old walled city of Dubrovnik could not have been better designed or imagined even by Walt Disney himself. The marble streets gleam in the sunlight and twinkle by moonlight. The massive walls and ancient buildings simply leaves the weary traveler in awe. Rather than write a lot about the city I am going to post three sets of photos first for you to get a feel for what we saw. Then I will write a final post summarizing my observations. First I will post the photos of the massive city walls and fortifications with this post. The entire wall encircling the Old City is 3.5 kilometers and we walked every meter. The wall follows the contour of the terrain providing plenty of steps to climb. In total we walked a little over 1o miles on this day (according to my Fitbit).
These walls and the old city has been used by the makers of the Game of Thrones HBO series for the outside shots of Kings Landing as well as the exterior shots for Star Wars VIII.
