Radom Photos taken in Tbilisi

I have spent so much time blogging about the Georgian countryside that I’ve neglected to say a lot about Tbilisi.  I have included a few random photos of the view from high atop Narikala Fortress and of the old Metekhl Church built originally in the 12th century by King David the Builder but destroyed by the Mangy Mongols in 1235.  The church has been rebuilt many times thru the years.

The night life in the Old Meidan was lively and I found myself down there every night listening to jazz or some other music venue.  A couple of random facts worth mentioning – first Georgians love George W. Bush and named the Blvd from the city to the airport after him.  Conversely they think Obama is a big pussy and have no use for him.  A gee whiz fact you might throw out sometime while playing trivia is that Georgia has had its own alphabet and written language and it is one of the ten oldest in the world.  The Georgian literary tradition and alphabet goes all the way back to. the third century and it is unlike any other in the entire world.

It is beautiful. The bridge looks a little out of place with the rest of the architecture there. Very pretty
