About Me

Hi! I’m Rockie Pennington. Thanks for stopping by.

I’ve spent the last 50 years working 40 to 80 hours a week an it is now time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of my labor.  I have hired a CEO to take over the day to day running of my company and have committed to 2018 as my last election season.  I’ve decided to use 2017 to practice being retired.  I’ve spent the last 4 and a half months skiing in Colorado and so far so good – no regrets or urges to work at all.

After a two week break I am now about to begin my next big adventure.  On Friday May 5th I Fly to Washington D.C. to officiate my daughter Sara’s wedding Saturday.  Then after taking Sunday off to nurse a wedding reception hangover, I fly to New York Monday the 8th to begin a two month journey across Europe and Central Asia to test my tolerance for retirement.

I will be visiting Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Poland, Czech Republic, Venice, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Turkey, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Romania, Hungary, Belarus, and Estonia.  Throughout the trip I plan to post photos and write nightly about my experiences, new people I meet, sites I visit, and my impressions of the local, wines, beer, spirits, food and jazz/blues venues.

I hope you will come along with me and enjoy the trip through my eyes.
